HOW-TO: SHOOT A WEDDING ON FILM… DOS, DO NOTS, AND THE BEAUTY OF FILM

After the success of the Ibiza wedding shoot, and my happiness at how the photographs came out on the wonderful film emulsions (Kodak Portra 400 and Rollei RPX 100) I got in touch with the creator of www.emulsive.org to ask if he would be interested in my writing an article about it, for his website.

Happily, he was all too pleased to work with me. I began writing a document that I would have liked to have read prior to my endeavour. An article that states what a film photographer has to think about before a wedding shoot, during it, and after it. It talks about film choice selection, environmental considerations, camera and lens choices and their respective combinations, airport considerations, engagement with the bride and groom, and much more besides. Oh, it also details my top tip about using rock climbers chalk bags for carrying film in on the day! That alone is worth is a read. So it is quite a beast of an article!! It is several pages, several thousand words and took me about 10 evening to write, with some frequent editorial improvements by the website owner who is called simply ‘EM’.

The result of this can now be found at this link

Please do give it a read if you are at all interested. I think you will find it insightful.
