Kodak Alaris recently announced on their Instagram page that they were running a few samples of their new printing paper, “KODAK Professional Endura Premier Silk” under the hashtag #DiscoverKProSilk promotion. This paper is part of their overall line of papers, the others being “Ektacolor Edge Paper” and “Elite Paper”. You can learn more about their range over at www.truephotopaper.com

Although this promotion was only open to the USA, I was somehow fortunate enough to be asked (via me politely asking) to submit two images that I would like to have printed on this paper, courtesy of the promotion. Naturally, I jumped at it at both hands and sent two of my favourite black and white images of recent times. One image was my “Thoughtful in the Rain” image, and the other was part of my “London by Night” series that also won me a Kodak Alaris and Analogue Wonderland joint competition called “Low Light Magic“.

I sent off the scans and was told to “watch this space”, as postage might not have been possible. A few weeks later, and I had a large envelope arrive. I could see it was from Kodak Alaris so naturally opened it with eager anticipation.

The prints looked AMAZING! I was really pleased with them. The paper has a glossy and tactile feel to it. The surface as an almost fine graniness to it. Very hard to describe but it’s like you can “feel the image”. The picture below, central, is a slightly angled and cropped shot I took of the prints with a bit of flash, and in that, you can better see the texture of the print. Love it. The paper is a really good weight too. I’m not sure, exactly, what weight it is in gsm, but it feels lovely and both prints are heading straight into frames.

You can seem more of Kodak Alaris on Instagram and Facebook using @kodakprofessional on both. Follow the Pro Silk paper channel on https://www.instagram.com/explore/tags/discoverkprosilk/

Thanks again Kodak Alaris for allowing me to be part of this wonderful promotion.
